I have a confession to make. I am a to-go-cup junkie. You can count on me at the end of every meal out to make just one more request of the server: “Can I have a to-go cup, please?”
On any given day, you can find cups bearing various restaurant names around my house…in the fridge, on a coaster near the couch, on the kitchen table, on a countertop…okay, maybe not ALL at the same time…
The reason behind my to-go-cup hoarding holds an even darker secret…I make awful sweet tea. Imagine dishwater in a mason jar, and you’ve come close to having a glass of my homemade brew. It’s a shame for one so Southern.
So sadly, as much as I love this simple sweet pleasure, to enjoy it at home, we must import it – usually in the form of to-go cups (or jugs bought at the grocery store if company’s coming).
In my mind, asking for to-go cups is a small price to pay to be able to spend the afternoon sippin’ sweet tea. Oh, you can chug it all you want to, but sweet tea is meant to be sipped, savored.
So welcome to the blog! Grab your own cup of sweet tea, and sit and sip for a few short minutes in the bustle of your day. Come and savor the sweet moments of life with me, those times when God shows us glimpses of Himself in the midst of the everyday.
Before long, we won’t seem like acquaintances but more like friends.
